This example is visible on the background of the famous photo taken on March 7, 1942, when the 120th IAP of Moscow Air Defence was was made Guards as the 12th Gv.IAP.

The characteristics look to be:
  • late type;
  • overall dark white with a anel of dark color (probably green, a piece from another aircraft) at least on the right side;
  • the engine cowling upper panel looks darker, probably dark white or light grey;
  • clear white propeller and spinner, with a red star on it;
  • black 36 number painted parallel to the ground;
  • a black band on the top of rudder;
  • fixed tail wheel;
  • underwing rockets;
  • radio boxes visible; underwing rockets;
  • the underwing red stars aren't visible, but I would assume they were present and made invisible by light reflected off the snow, as on many other photos.
